About the Fund

The Performing Arts Fund NL is one of six public cultural funds and supports professional artists in their work. We stimulate artistic development, help deepen and broaden artistic practices and finance the creation of new work, ensuring it is seen by as many people as possible. The Fund is dedicated to the performing arts in their entirety, from pop music to written plays and from circus theatre to musicals. We also encourage the exploration of the boundaries of disciplines.

We recognise the importance of diverse perspectives in evaluating grant applications. For that reason, we ensure a wide diversity of expertise, gender, age, place of residence and cultural background within our pool of advisors. Diversity is also considered when forming committees.
General Director
Viktorien van Hulst has acted as the Fund's General Director since July 1st, 2021.

Prior to her appointment, Van Hulst fulfilled various roles within the performing arts field. From 2009 to 2015, she worked as Head of the Artistic Department at Toneelgroep Amsterdam, now known as Internationaal Theater Amsterdam.

She held additional roles as an advisor and supervisor for funds, governmental- and cultural organisations, including membership of the Supervisory Board of Amare Den Haag and the position of Event Advisor at Provincie Overijssel. As a board member for Kunsten ’92, Van Hulst helped strengthen the position of arts, culture, heritage and the creative sector in the Netherlands.

Before moving to the Fund, Van Hulst worked as General Director of Theaterfestival Boulevard, where she was responsible for the festival’s artistic- and business activities in and around ’s-Hertogenbosch.
Supervisory Board
The General Director’s work is overseen by a Supervisory Board. The board follows guidelines set out by the Cultural Governance Code and regularly discusses strategic policy and management in meetings.

Themes such as the cultural codes are also a recurring topic on the agenda. The board stays informed about developments within society and the sector. Its diverse composition guarantees its ability to advise the Fund from different viewpoints.
