When: Programme from 4–10 October, with travel days on 3 and 11 October
Where: Japan
Working language: English
As a participant in the networking trip you will have the opportunity to establish or expand your network of fellow artists and programmers, particularly from Oceania and Asia. You will attend (international) performances at two festivals: Autumn Meteorite in Tokyo, and Kyoto Experiment, and meet international theatre professionals and programmers. A visit to the Aichi Triennale in Nagoya is also part of the programme. After the trip, participants are asked to write an evaluation of their visit.
The programme is a collaboration between Autumn Meteorite in Tokyo, Kyoto Experiment Festival, Materialise and Performing Arts Fund NL.
We are looking for candidates (m/f/x) who:
Are professionally active in performance or theatre and have created at least 10 productions;
Have international ambitions;
Are resident and working in the Netherlands or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands;
Are available to participate in the full seven-day programme (4–10 October 2025, with travel on 3 and 11 October). Candidates who cannot commit to the full period are not eligible.
Please let us know if you require any support as a candidate. We will be happy to explore the possibilities with you.
Please note: extending your stay is possible, but at your own cost and arranged independently.
Would you like to take part in this trip and do you meet the requirements? Please complete the application form. You can choose between submitting a written motivation in English (max. 1 A4) or a video motivation (max. 2 minutes, no performance material). Please submit only one of the two. Add an English CV and, if applicable, a link to your website.
Applications must be submitted by 4 September, 16:00 (CEST).
A maximum of six participants will be selected. In making the selection, we will consider the alignment between the artists, the international festivals in Japan, and the delegates at Kyoto Experiment, as well as a balanced composition of the group. Applicants will be informed within one week of the deadline. The trip will only proceed with a minimum of four selected participants.
We stimulate international exchange by supporting cross-border collaboration, presentations of Dutch performing arts abroad, and activities that increase international visibility of Dutch performing arts. To build an international practice, it is essential for artists to establish and maintain contacts abroad. This is why we occasionally organise a networking trip.
